Welcome to Moffett Fine Art
Moffett Fine Arts has been in the early Utah and American art business for over twenty years. What started as an interest in the work of Maynard Dixon has grown into a passion for early Utah art and Western art in general. We are always in the market for early Utah artists such as J T Harwood, John Hafen, Henri Moser, LeConte Stewart, and Mahonri Young, although this is just a sampling of the many early Utah and pioneer artists we seek. A visit to the Artists page on this site will list a host of others. Utah provided great inspiration for those artists who grew up surrounded by its richly varied landscapes and industrious people. Other early Utah artists like Dan Weggeland, CCA Christensen and George Ottinger didn’t begin their careers in Utah, but started in Europe and eventually immigrated to Utah, documenting the movement of pioneers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints west to the Salt Lake Valley.
Whether you are hoping to begin a collection or add a few missing early Utah artists to your existing collection, we can assist you. If you are interested in selling a single piece of art or an entire collection, we can help with that as well. In addition to our focus on early Utah and American art we have a interest in Western art generally and are seeking both works done by itinerant artists who passed through Utah (Thomas Moran, John Fery, Gunnar Widforss etc.) and works by western artists without Utah connections (Laverne Nelson Black, Joseph Sharp, William Penhallow Henderson, Buck Weaver etc.) Please reference the Artists page for a complete listing of these artists.
Finally, we focus on Sporting and Religious art, as well as the illustration art found on various magazine covers from the 1920s to the 1970s. If you have art work of this type not associated with Utah, but would like to discuss it or need assistance selling it, please give us a call.
We are located in Salt Lake City, Utah and look forward to working with you.
